Cowboys and Cactus
A couple of weeks ago on one of our trips to the supermarket, Isaiah and I had a discussion of possible party themes for his upcoming birthday. I suggested the usual…pirates, jungle safari, space adventure; and then Isaiah informed me that none of those would do, he wanted a desert party, with cactus. Hmmm…I am always up for a creative challenge and decided to go with it and my Google searches began. As I was looking online, it seemed that Cactus and Cowboys seemed to go hand in hand, so we added it to the theme and invited all the little outlaws from Isaiah’s Kindergarten class.
I had 13 on the guest list, but fortunately for me, only 6 showed up: Jan, Lucas, Clay, Sam, Ethan, and Alex. As the children arrived we tied bandanas around their necks and gobbled down snacks while sipping root beer and “cactus juice”. We then shot down cans with balls and tried to shoot down bottles with squirt guns, but that didn’t work. We had a snake stomp with long balloons and then had to jump over a snake in the form of a long wiggly rope. We hunted for gold in the backyard and then threw in a little education and played desert animal bingo, which Daniel did a great job creating. We ate cactus cake and opened presents. And we did all of this to the gunfighter ballads of Marty Robbins. Isaiah and his friends had lots of fun and by nightfall I was ready to crash.

January 15th, 2008 at 12:54 amHave you ever thought of putting more videos to your blog site articles to have the readers more interested? I mean I just read through the entire page of yours and it had been very fantastic but since I’m a lot more of a visual learner, I found that way to be a lot more helpful. well, let me know what you think.
October 4th, 2010 at 11:06 am@chels I know what you mean, its hard to find good help these days. People now days just don’t have the work ethic they used to have. I mean consider whoever wrote this post, they must have been working hard to write that good and it took a good bit of their time I am sure. I work with people who couldn’t write like this if they tried, and getting them to try is hard enough as it is.
October 18th, 2010 at 3:17 pmStrange this post is totaly unrelated to what I was searching google for, but it was listed on the first page. I guess your doing something right if Google likes you enough to put you on the first page of a non related search.
