Urgent Prayer Request

February 1st, 2008 8 Comments

We would like to request your prayers for Ian. Earlier this week we noticed a tiny spot on his knee that quickly became inflamed and very sore. It developed a fairly large infected puss pocket under the skin that began spreading in his leg.

The doctor thinks it may have come from a bug bite. The only other thing Melissa or I can think of is that he fell and skinned his knee a few days earlier and that possibly  became infected.

The doctor has Ian on a fairly strong antibiotic hoping to reduce the swelling and the size of the puss deposit. In a few days he anticipates needing to surgically remove the inflamed junk in there. Right now the area is fairly large taking up a good portion of his calf and shin.

We are asking that you would help us pray for healing for Ian’s leg. Please pray that the inflammation would reduce dramatically in size. Please pray that Ian’s leg would experience complete healing in the name of Jesus.

Melissa and I have both felt very unsettled in our hearts and spirits in regards to this. It just does not feel right. It makes us both feel sick and ill at ease to think about it. We truly feel that we are experiencing attack from the enemy on our family. We have complete faith that God is in control!

Remarkably, Ian is his happy, bouncy self. We are trying to keep him slowed down so the heating pad and antibiotics can do their work.

Thanks everyone for your prayers and support.

Father, please heal and protect Ian and his whole family. Prevent the infection from spreading and give Your wisdom to the doctor(s) and to Dan and Melissa. We ask for rest and comfort, but most of all for complete healing and restoration. Thanks God.

We just got back from the doctor and it is really good news. The doctor was amazed at how well Ian’s leg is doing. While it is still a little swollen and inflamed it is healing much faster than he expected. He said there is no need for surgery or hospitalization for IV. He said he is doing great and will be back to normal in a few days.

Praise God, we are rejoicing for this answered prayer.

    Dan and Melissa,

We are praying for Ian! When we were in Aninuan last summer for the birth of Rose and Ian’s baby, I (Susie) got an infected toe that behaved as you describe Ian’s leg. The bacteria there is so different than we are used to, and infection happens so quickly. We love your family and are thankful for who you are! Rod and Susie
