Dear Jesus, Please Come Into My Heart
As parents there are lots of milestones for our kids as they grow. One I have been eagerly looking forward to, and praying for, is when my kids will each choose to ask Jesus to come and live inside their hearts.
Melissa felt nudged by the Holy Spirit earlier this week that Isaiah was getting close to being ready for this. Over the last few days we have been talking with him about what it means to have Jesus come and to live within us. We have also been praying for Isaiah that God would prepare his heart for this important decision.
Tonight Isaiah prayed that prayer!
While doing our nightly prayers tonight we were praying that God would help Isaiah to be a kind, loving, and helpful brother. I asked Isaiah if he ever felt like God could help him to be a better friend and better brother. He really responded to that and said that he would like God’s help in that. We talked about asking Jesus to come and live within us always so that He is always there to help us and protect us.
Isaiah prayed strongly and confidently. Often he just kind of mumbles through his prayers but tonight it was different. He is excited that, from now on, he can always tell anyone who asks how he prayed for Jesus to come into his heart during the loud lightning storm when he was 6 years old. (There was a really loud thunderstorm happening tonight while we talked and prayed).

Isaiah, Grandpa Pape is very thankful that you have invited Jesus into your heart to help you and guide you early in life. I am very pleased and I know that God will be faithful to answer your prayers as you live for Him.
