Thanks all for the birthday wishes. It has been a wonderful couple of days and I feel very loved and blessed. I will keep this short, hit the highlights and share the pics.

Yesterday Melissa took me from work early for a ‘secret’ birthday treat. She started driving up through the Antipolo hills and we finally pulled up in from of a spa. It was totally not the kind of thing I would have done for myself, but after 3 hours of steam rooms, saunas, hot tubs, and messages I was feeling pretty good. It was also really nice to spend all the time with Melissa…just the two of us. I think it was her trick cause she got all the same treatment and it was my birthday! It’s okay, she deserves it.

Today the crew at WMC helped celebrate my birthday with a special lunch together. It is custom here in the Philippines for the birthday celebrant to treat their friends to a meal. Melissa helped me out and we made 8-layer bean dip, a big pot or baked beans (yes, Betty…it was your recipe), and KFC filled in the corners with 2 buckets of chicken. After a nice wet ride home in the rain on the motorcycle there was still more partying to be had! Isaiah surprised me with a special present. He earns a little money here and there for cleaning up the play room and other fun tasks and he told Melissa that he wanted to buy me a present with some of it. So she took him to the store and he picked out this neon blue T-Shirt with “Italia” emblazened across the chest with an Italian flag under it and on the back is a huge #10 encircled by the words “Thunder Storm!” I can see why a 4 year old would love it. I guess I have my new Saturday shirt. After dinner it was time for cake #2 with more candles. After that it was time for the dance party. We pushed the furniture out of the way…cranked up the iTunes…and had a blast.
