Oh Christmas Tree!

It has been awhile. After waiting six weeks, a guy from PLDT finally showed up at our house today with our modem and I feel like the world is at my fingertips once again. Even though I could write an email or journal entry and then go somewhere to connect and send it off, it is just not the same. We also have not been able to talk to our families on Skype or chat with my friends back in Nampa, so I would like to first just say Hi to all my friends and family out there. You have been missed.

We were also supposed to go back to the States about six weeks ago and here we are, still in Manila. We finally had a breakthrough and our two year visas were finally completed last week. The final piece of the puzzle allowing us to travel are our iCards. Thank you all for your prayers and concern during this process. Honestly it has not been that bad. We have been the recipients of tons of God’s grace keeping it from being the stressful experience it could be. We mainly have felt bad for our concerned family and friends. We know God’s timing is always at work and we are prayerfully waiting.

On a lighter note, we set up the Christmas tree today. A little early by American standards, but here in the Philippines the Christmas season begins in September and is in full swing by now. This was always one of my favorite traditions growing up as a child and still continues to be so. Isaiah was so excited to be my little helper and take our tree out of the box and straighten the branches and put on the lights and ribbon. Once Elanor and Ian were up, it was all I could do to have them save some ornaments to put on the tree until Daddy came home. We had a whirlwind ornament hanging session after dinner and the tree looks great.

John and I have been wondering how you were all doing amongst all the typhoons and trying to get all your documents together. How’s your new home in Manila? You’ll have to tell us about where you are. We’re hoping to be in your part of the world in a couple (?) months (aah, but only the Lord knows!). Just wanted to drop you a note to say ‘hi’ and glad to know you’re enjoying your time there before you have to go.
