Wells and Roller Pans
As Melissa and I were climbing into bed last night at 12:45 AM we realized how we have been going non-stop for almost 3 weeks. We have both been busy with long days, work, the kids, preparing our house to sell, freelance jobs and much more. It’s surprising how much we have found we needed to do to get our new house (1 year old) ready to go on the market. We had some painting projects which we had started soon after moving in that needed completing. We have weeding and yard work to do. Trying to think what is left to do even seems hard.
I wish I could say I have been finding rest in the Lord. Honestly, it has been really easy to get busy, stay busy, and get worn out. So last night, Melissa said to me, “this has got to stop.” I agree. Although there may still be lots to do, I am encouraged that the Lord has more than enough strength to carry us on.
We were with our friends Tommy and Kristin this evening, who are from our home church and feel called to be missionaries to the Philippines as well. They are in the States preparing for returning to Manila. They were expressing some of our same fatigue and also some doubts regarding ever making it back. The obstacles and logistics at times can be so overwhelming. They also told us about a call they received earlier from a friend who has been working in the Philippines and how she had shared that they are like a well through which the Lord flows This is true. This is really true. I hope I do not grow weary of counting all the Lords promises as true.
If we are His wells, then we can never become dry, we can never become weary, we always have a source.
Tommy and Kristin, the Lord will provide. Proverbs 16:9. He wil! l make sure His plans and purposes are achieved.
He will provide us rest and supply His blessing.
So not really on the same topic as your post, but I found this today and I just can’t resist sharing. Mrs. Agathe’s dishwasher quit working so she called a repairman. Since she had to go to work the next day, she told him, “I’ll leave the key under the mat. Fix the dishwasher, leave the bill on the counter, and I’ll mail you the check. Oh, and by the way…don’t worry about my Doberman. He won’t bother you. But, whatever you do, do NOT under ANY circumstances talk to my parrot!” When the repairman arrived at Mrs. Agathe’s apartment the next day, he discovered the biggest and meanest looking Doberman he had ever seen. But just as she had said, the dog simply laid there on the carpet, watching the repairman go about his business. However, the whole time the parrot drove him nuts with his incessant cursing, yelling and name-calling. Finally the repairman couldn’t contain himself any longer and yelled, “Shut up, you stupid ugly bird!” To which the parrot replied, “Get him, Spike!”
