Our Kingdom Bank Account
I have the privilege of being in Singapore for the next few days investigating the topic of stewardship and giving. We have a small group of missionaries from around the world gathering to participate in a few seminars and to share in some brainstorming and discussion on the process of developing Christlike partners in our ministry.
As most of you know, being Mission Corps Volunteers with the Church of the Nazarene, Melissa and I are not privded a salary for our ministry here. We are SO blessed to allow God to provide for our ministry and living expenses through people like you who cheerfully give to our ministry.
What I am becoming increasingly aware of though is that by doing this you are not giving to our personal ministry account—rather, you are giving to your own personal account in the Kingdom of Heaven! Melissa and I have an obligation to share this opportunity with you.
Over the next few days I will be posting some of the things God is revealing to me on this topic. I can’t wait to share more.
So not really on the same topic as your post, but I found this today and I just can’t resist sharing. Mrs. Agathe’s dishwasher quit working so she called a repairman. Since she had to go to work the next day, she told him, “I’ll leave the key under the mat. Fix the dishwasher, leave the bill on the counter, and I’ll mail you the check. Oh, and by the way…don’t worry about my Doberman. He won’t bother you. But, whatever you do, do NOT under ANY circumstances talk to my parrot!” When the repairman arrived at Mrs. Agathe’s apartment the next day, he discovered the biggest and meanest looking Doberman he had ever seen. But just as she had said, the dog simply laid there on the carpet, watching the repairman go about his business. However, the whole time the parrot drove him nuts with his incessant cursing, yelling and name-calling. Finally the repairman couldn’t contain himself any longer and yelled, “Shut up, you stupid ugly bird!” To which the parrot replied, “Get him, Spike!”
