Julie and I having fun in Singapore

Hi, I just wanted to share a quick note about my recent weekend trip to Singapore with my friend Julie (she and her husband are students here at Asia-Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary and also Nazarene Tentmaker Missionaries) Singapore is a city made to impress from the moment you arrive with its nice airport, beautifully landscaped highway lined with umbrella trees, cleanliness and efficiency. I was also amazed by how international it is. Nobody cared that we were Americans and it was nice to not stand out for a change. Our shopping trip to IKEA was like Christmas in September. We also got to savor rosti prata at a hawker center (yummy!), be dazzled by the colors of clothing in Little India, look for pasalubong (gifts for our friends back home) at the shops in Chinatown…

stroll along the river and eat Thai food at Clarke’s Quay…

visit the iconic Merlion with the beautiful downtown city lights twinkling in the background, zip along the MRT from one end of Singapore to the other and tire our poor little feet to the point we could barely take another step. And there is still so much more to see! We also had fun spending time with Angie and Kim, some of our regional missionaries living in Singapore, and I want to thank them for showing us around this fabulous city in two short days.

    Melissa,
I am so glad you got to take this trip! I only wish I could have been there with you. The kids and I were rooting for you all the way from home :D
